Symptoms of Cancer

There are quite a few different types of cancer, so there are also a number of different symptoms that can develop. Below you will find some of the common symptoms of cancer.

  • A growth, thickening of the body, or lump. Often, this occurs in breast cancer, as other tumors can not be as easily felt.
  • Very large moles, typically those larger than a pencils eraser, new moles, or a change to an existing mole.
  • Wound or Sore that does not heal.
  • A persistent cough, sore throat, or hoarseness.
  • Pain after eating
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Bleeding, discomfort, or other changes referring to the bowels or bladder
  • Weakness and fatigue
  • Weight loss or weight gain that is not expected

While statistically speaking, these symptoms are usually not indicative of cancer, with often benign tumors or other diseases causing the problem, they should still be checked by a doctor. One of the keys to treating cancer effectively is early detection, so the sooner the cancer can be diagnosed, the better.

In most cases, cancer does not initially cause pain or discomfort, so it is important to not wait until there is pain to speak with a doctor.
